Movilfest Institution is the structural evolution of a pioneering festival — created to ensure that talent, wherever it exists, has access, visibility, credibility, and long-term opportunity in the digital age.
Movilfest was not created to organize events. It was created to correct an imbalance.
In 2010, when access to the audiovisual industry depended largely on geography, funding structures, and bureaucratic systems, Movilfest chose a different starting point: the individual. Not the city, not the grant, not the institution — the person.
A young creator in a rural town. A storyteller without access to subsidies. An artist outside traditional networks. They all shared something simple but powerful: a mobile phone.
Sandra González, coming from within the professional audiovisual industry, saw that device not as a limitation, but as a gateway. As she states, “The problem was never talent. The problem was access.”
From that conviction emerged a principle that continues to define Movilfest:
“Talent exists everywhere. Opportunities do not.”
The festival became one of the earliest international platforms exclusively dedicated to mobile storytelling, refusing to divide creators into professional and non-professional categories. Talent was not to be separated by status or access. Narrative strength, not institutional privilege, would be the only measure.
As digital ecosystems expanded and content multiplied, the need for credibility and continuity became increasingly urgent. In 2025, Movilfest formally established itself as a non-profit institution — not to change its philosophy, but to protect it.
“A mobile phone can be a door. But someone has to make sure it stays open.”
Movilfest keeps that door open.
In an era where authenticity can be blurred and visibility manufactured, Movilfest stands for clarity. Technology is a tool. Human expression remains the center.
The institution exists to protect that center — and to build opportunity where it does not yet exist.
Movilfest is not only an organization.
It is a stance.
